Need some help with a project, or just want to sit and stitch with like minded people? Open Knitting (we welcome crocheters too!) and Help Day are for you. Open Knitting is geared towards the more social aspects of knitting, we have some of the most wonderful conversations as we sit and work together. Help Day is geared towards problem solving and teaching. This is the perfect time to drop by the shop if you are stuck on some aspect of your project, if you need to learn a new technique, or if you want to learn to knit or crochet as a beginner. You can stop in any time during these hours, no need to make an appointment. We're here to help!

Upcoming Class Schedule:

  • Begin to Knit!:  Tuesday evening 5-7pmWednesday afternoon and every other Saturday, 1-3 pm. This class is for any person who wants to learn to knit, whether young or young at heart! Children who want to learn, parents or friends that want to learn with them, everybody is welcome. You can start any Tuesday night between 5 and 7pm, Wednesday from 1 - 3pm, or every other Saturday, just contact me ahead of time so I know you are coming. We'll get you set up with needles, yarn and start you on your way to becoming a knitter!
  • Mitten Knitten': Saturdays, 1-3pm starting 1/26. This is a technique building class for  beginners and intermediate knitters, a different pattern for each level of knitting confidence. For the beginner mitten knitter, we have The World's Simplest Mittens. This is a basic pattern with which you will learn to knit a small-circumference item in the round (paving the way for sock knitting afterwards!), learning to knit thumbs, and more. You must know how to cast on, knit and purl prior to starting the project. For those more adventurous knitters, we have Go Big or Go Gnome Mittens. This pattern is good for knitters who may have already knit basic mittens (or socks) and would like to learn to knit stranded mittens, knitting with two colors in a row.  Both projects will be taught during the class time. Classes are on Saturday 1/26 and 2/9. You can also drop in to Open Knitting on Tuesday evenings (5-7pm), or Help Day on Wednesdays to get more help or knit with some company!
  • Beginner Brioche: Saturdays 1-3pm, starting 2/23. Another new technique to learn! Two projects will be offered, the Hot Shot Cowl and the Vanilla Fog Hat.  You will be able to knit both projects with the amount of yarn you need to have on hand to knit the hat project, so why not knit both! These projects are suitable for adventurous beginners and up, you must know how to cast on, knit and purl prior to starting the projects. Classes are Saturday 2/23 and 3/9. You can also drop in to Open Knitting on Tuesday evenings (5-7pm) or Help Day on Wednesdays to get more help or knit with some company!
