Need some help with a project, or just want to sit and stitch with like minded people? Open Knitting (we welcome crocheters too!) and Help Day are for you. Open Knitting is geared towards the more social aspects of knitting, we have some of the most wonderful conversations as we sit and work together. Help Day is geared towards problem solving and teaching. This is the perfect time to drop by the shop if you are stuck on some aspect of your project, if you need to learn a new technique, or if you want to learn to knit or crochet as a beginner. You can stop in any time during these hours, no need to make an appointment. We're here to help!

Yarns, Classes, Gifts

Upcoming Class Schedule:

  • Begin to Knit!:  Tuesday eveningWednesday afternoon and every other Saturday, 1-3 pm starting November 10th. This class is for any person who wants to learn to knit, whether young or young at heart! Children who want to learn, parents or friends that want to learn with them, everybody is welcome. You can start any Tuesday night between 5 and 7pm, Wednesday from 1 - 3pm, or every other Saturday, just contact me ahead of time so I know you are coming. We'll get you set up with needles, yarn and start you on your way to becoming a knitter!
  • Intermediate knitting, Rye Socks: Saturdays, 1-3pm starting 11/17.So, after a rather unsuccessful start to my last sock class, I realized a few things: people want to learn to knit socks , but not necessarily a challenging pattern; people want to learn to knit socks but not with fine sock yarn and size #1 needles! So here we have a class to knit a very straightforward pair of socks with an extremely well written pattern geared towards people who have not yet knit socks, and these are knit in worsted weight yarn! You do need to know how to knit already to take this class, but need not have knit socks before. Classes will be on alternate Saturday afternoons, and you can drop in during Open Knitting on Tuesday evenings from 5-7pm as well. Be sure to let me know ahead of time when you are planning to start this class!
  • Sweater Knit-A-Long (KAL): Starts January 12! Pick out a pattern, either one you already had in mind, or one I have suggested, and we'll get together to knit ourselves some new duds! I find knitting large projects with a group really helpful. You get to see what everyone else is knitting, get loads of encouragement from the group, and come out at the end with a new piece for your wardrobe! KAL Saturdays start on January 12, and will happen every other Saturday through the end of March. You can also drop in to Open Knitting on Tuesday evenings (5-7pm), to get more help or knit with some company!
